Keflavik
Keflavik – the city of Poland
Keflavik is really not Icelandic anymore. The Icelanders in particular must know what I mean by that. If not, I don´t care. It feels like the wild, wild east in this city. Just sit at the local restaurant where the casino also is and see the wonders of the “grey” moneytrade.
There is a lot going on in this very non romantic city. A lot of hotels, restaurants, bars and so on. It kind of has it all, but it just does not feel like your in Iceland when you are visiting.
The fishing is good several places but first
All Good
Places I found rather good:
- Cafe Petite: Read more: Petite but big…
- Pizza and Pasta: Antons Mamma Mia…
- The many shopping possibilities.
Fishing spots along the shore
The best place for mackerel: Spot 1.
It is not possible to fish there in normal working hours. Go there in the evenings on weekdays or Saturday and Sunday.
The second best place for mackerel. Also good for flounders: Spot 2.
Here you can go everyday at all hours.
Really good for Pollock and Haddock: Spot 3.
Here you can go everyday at all hours.
The best stretch of water: Spot 4.
From the marked spot and 800 meters towards north. Here you walk on flat lava. Cool place!
You can catch mackerel, cod, pollack, haddock, ling and flounders here.
Here you can go everyday at all hours.
I use spoons and fish them near the bottom for all codfish. For mackerel I fish higher in the water. The flounders like pieces of mackerel, herring or sandeel. Use for example a heavy spoon and 2 hooks above it. This is also effective for catching alle the codfish.
I wish you the best fishing alongside the coast and from the harbor of Keflavik.
/Jari – 5 years of nonstop fishing, driving, sleeping and eating in Iceland. (From 2020-2025.)
